how to get onto the matrix chat via the element web client

hello! getting onto matrix via the element web client is fairly easy! all you need to do is:

1.) go to https://chat.communist.accountant

2.) you will be automatically redirected to the keycloak single sign on page, where you can either log into your account, or create a new one by clicking "Register" at the bottom of the box . if you were previously on nopasaran.red, you can log in using the info from that account.

3.) once you log in, you'll see this screen, just click "continue"

voila! you're logged in! it's really that easy!

once you join, you'll be automatically prompted to set up security keys. this is optional, but i highly recommend doing it, otherwise whenever you log out, you lose the chat history of whatever you've said/seen. matrix is an encrypted chat standard, so you need to have your own encryption keys in order to talk to other people, if that makes sense. so setting those up is a good idea. as a bonus, if you set up a security password or whatever, you don't need to verify your other devices manually!

once you get past that, or skip it if you don't care about message persistence, you'll see an icon on the side that... well, as of the time of writing i guess it's george lucas and jack nicholson at a basketball game? i didn't set it to that. there's a lot of admins at the moment. if you click it, you'll see this. it's the typical screen you see when you join a space. you can click on any of those rooms to join them, if they seem interesting to you!
